Microphone Qualification Tests

The project is to qualify a microphone so as to see if it is able to hear sounds under the Martian atmosphere. Thus we bought three EK-23132 microphones (see datasheet in the Documents section). Then we needed a component to emit a sound at a precise frequency and with a precise amplitude gain, so we decided to use a magnetic buzzer (datasheet also available here). We have also made an automatic Matlab routine to lead the tests.
Now, we can move on to the real tests. The first one is under normal Earth conditions in order to have a data references. Then we will operate the microphone under a 5 mbar pressure and finally at -40°C.

In this section you will find the different steps of the experiments and a small recap after each one.
